Special events internships
Learn by doing at the Monterey Peninsula's professional theatre.

At PacRep, special events celebrate opening nights, cultivate future patrons and thank current donors. Larger events, like our annual fundraising galas, take months of preparation; others are small receptions for 50 VIPs in the theatre lobby.
Interns join departmental meetings and strategy sessions. Recommended for those interested in event planning in any sector, and in development, fundraising and project management in the non-profit arts.
Responsibilities
Support the Special Events Committee and development staff with board cocktail parties, donor and board receptions and our two annual galas, plus marketing events like opening night parties, promotional appearances and the PacRep Speakers' Bureau. Tasks include:
- Mailings and phone contacts
- Writing copy, editing proofs, and tracking and coordinating advertising
- Tracking and processing RSVPs
- Maintaining inventories of printed material and event supplies
- Communicating with vendors, hosts, volunteers and venue staff
- Keeping event files and the special events database up to date
- Moving event materials between sites and storage
Skills
A creative eye, excellent communication skills (writing, phone and event presentation), attention to detail, the ability to work well with volunteers, and comfort with Microsoft Word and Excel (not required). Experience in theatre arts is a major plus.
